My favorite albums of 2011. This is the Rock Strikes Ten debut of the ‘C’ in CNJRadio. The records I chose for this show is the list as of air time on New Year’s Day and I had a list with about 15 more records that I enjoyed quite a lot this year but I ultimately decided on playing these particular albums. I hope you are not bummed that I didn’t rank any of them except for the top two. Perhaps a familiar voice will make things up to you……

Yes corporate magazines still suck and there is no greater proof than two things, this week’s show art and Rolling Stone magazine with their current list of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of ALL TIME”. Time to eat your drums…Inspired by the latest Muppets movie and as a theme request from listener and friend of CNJRadio Mr. Adam Arthur. My first musical inspiration in this world was The Muppets led by Jim Henson, Frank Oz and company. They still to this day hold a special place in my heart so here is my tribute to them. The long awaited heavy metal focus episode. Just like the genre itself, we do it big here and to an excessive and decadent degree because I am joined by one of my best friends of all time, Logan. What started out as a regular episode ended up being a 3 hour plus roundtable and oh yeah we still manage to play ten songs, NO MORE!……NO LESS! I know that a section of you that listen are not big heavy metal fans but this show IS for you. Obviously if you are a fan, you should enjoy this episode immensely but this is what I like to call the handshake into heavy metal (hornshake?) and this is what I believe to be the Top 10 icons of heavy metal. Myself and Logan talk in length about what these bands mean to heavy metal and to us as people. Logan even manages to brings in a few alternate selections for those of you that are looking to take some of the more extreme next steps. I hope you enjoy this episode at even a fraction of how much I enjoyed making this one. Let me know what you think about me doing this show with the occasional special guest if you have an opinion. Afterwards, use the link directly below this and tell Logan whether or not you want him to do a ‘Birth, School, Metal, Death’ show for all of you on a regular basis. *Updated* Ok, so I get this email and site comment from friend and listener Steven (thanks Steven!) that he can’t hear the songs on Episode 16. Naturally, this concerned me so I immediately checked the podcast posting in my library and lo and behold NO SONGS! After panic mode set in I decided to just go back and retrieve the whole show, break it up into 2 parts and repost it as such. So there you go, because the technical gods just weren’t metal enough to handle a 3 hour and 20 minute show, and because I have to keep each file consistent in naming them alright blah blah blah long story long. Just enjoy the shows and know that I am not trying to pad my number of episodes, this is just the only way I could do it. In (dis)honor of the recent collaboration of Lou Reed and Metallica, I decided to play my favorite weird and random duets that (much like the aforementioned LouTallica) look horrible on paper but (much like the aforementioned LouTallica) actually don’t stink up the joint. I can’t recommend an album LESS than ‘Lulu’. It is offensive to all of the senses that human beings have and if you want to listen to a metal band that won’t let you down then look no further to the remaining ‘Big 4’ lineup of Anthrax, Slayer and Megadeth. Lou Reed? yes I like ‘Transformer’ & ‘Berlin’ & ‘Rock & Roll’ but bottom line? you haven’t made anything great in my lifetime sir….end of story. Okay! I got that off my chest so now enjoy the show chock full of even weirder duets that will (hopefully) put a smile on your face enough to where you are compelled to buy.

Hello to everybody out there and it’s time yet again for another episode of Rock Strikes Ten. This show is the first volume of a theme I will be revisiting from time to time as the show goes on. Tonight I am focusing on some the newer bands that I like out there for one to give credit where credit is due and two to prove that I don’t just limit myself to a certain era of music. I will never claim to ‘listen to everything’ which always makes me cringe when people say that to prove their musical range. Long story short, be honest about what you listen to and only be true to yourself.

I promise this site will get a lot more exciting and aesthetically pleasing. I plan on putting buy links up to everything that I play on each episode. I will also start listing off songs that I cut off of each episode just because. Perhaps I will post up lists of upcoming albums and other music news in general. Hey I’m still new to this solo show stuff so let’s all bask in the exciting and new as well as the unknown.

Yes you only had to wait a week for another brand new episode of Rock Strikes Ten. Seriously this is going to be a weekly thing so get used to it, expect it and help spread the word. This being the third episode you will be treated to my ten favorite power trios of all time.

Stuff I forgot to say on the show: In addition to the bands I mentioned at the top of the show who were disqualified from the list, Motorhead is not on this episode either. The reason being is while they are a bonafide power trio NOW, they have not been for their entire career. Hey, I had to really nitpick to get this down to ten and of course the mighty Lemmy and co. will be on future upcoming episodes for sure I can guarantee you that.

Well just think of the first episode as the pilot. Now we’re back and my voice is a little deeper and my hair is a little longer and it’s time to strike……..back. Well it is FINALLY here!

All of my life I have wanted my very own music radio show and now it is a reality.  So the episode is done, the feed is up and iTunes has given me the green light as well.  Since I am counting on giving you a great first impression, I am going to share with you bands that made just that with their first records.  I found that nailing down my all-time Top 10 debut albums was rather difficult so instead I made a personal definitive list of my favorite tracks 1 through 10 from debut albums ever.  I guess I was trying to create my perfect debut album if you will.  I had a lot of fun doing it so I hope you have fun listening to it.  The only thing left is for you (that’s right, YOU!) to do a few things in order to come along this journey with me.  Follow these links below to get started on the first episode.

Hello and welcome to the official website of the Rock Strikes Ten show!  The site is still under construction but it will soon be a one-stop interactive site for the show which I hope becomes a daily part of your web activity so bookmark now!  Alright so what I can tell you so far is that the first show should be up around a week or so.  We (being myself and Chris) still need to create the feed and send it along to iTunes.  Once that is done it will be full on promoting time and most importantly music to be enjoyed by all that listen.

What is the show?  It’s always ten songs. no more. no less

The first episode is already recorded and it focuses on great debut albums.  It was very difficult for me to nail down my top 10 favorite debut albums ever so I chose a different route.  I decided to pick my favorite Tracks 1 through 10 as the songs represented.  For example, if I thought my favorite ‘Track 2′ from a debut album was “All I’ve Got To Do” by the Beatles then that will be the 2nd song I play on the show.  Got it?
